The Mission of the Epilepsy Foundation of Northwest Ohio is to ensure the long term financial viability of the Epilepsy Center of Northwest Ohio and to increase community awareness of epilepsy
Our Commitment
The Foundation is proud to stand alongside individuals and families facing epilepsy. By ensuring financial sustainability, raising awareness, and directly investing in opportunities, we help build a stronger, more supportive community for those living with epilepsy.
Our History
Founded in 1977, the Epilepsy Foundation of Northwest Ohio has been dedicated to supporting the needs of the Epilepsy Center of Northwest Ohio. Over the years, our reach has expanded. Today, we strive to empower individuals and improve quality of life with an annual scholarship and providing affordable housing.
Housing
EFNWO Housing, LLC is a limited liability company established within the Foundation to address a critical gap in the availability of quality, safe, and affordable housing for individuals with developmental disabilities. Through this entity, we are able to develop, own, and manage housing that promotes stability, independence, and dignity, while ensuring residences meet appropriate safety standards and are located within supportive communities.
Recognizing that access to affordable housing is often one of the greatest barriers to independence for individuals with developmental disabilities, the Foundation took a proactive approach by launching this initiative. Rather than waiting for solutions to emerge elsewhere, the Foundation committed its resources, expertise, and long-term vision to create housing options that align with its mission and values.
EFNWO Housing, LLC reflects the Foundation and the Center’s broader commitment to improving the lives of people affected by epilepsy and those with developmental disabilities. By investing in sustainable housing solutions, the Foundation helps ensure that individuals with developmental disabilities have not only a place to live, but a place to thrive, with greater security, choice, and connection to their communities.
Scholarship
Each year, we award a college scholarship to a local high school senior or college student living with epilepsy or another seizure disorder. This scholarship honors students who demonstrate courage, perseverance, and a strong commitment to their education despite the challenges of epilepsy.
